Wolves Deal Cannons 5-3 Defeat | Conditions were not ideal but Toronto and Cincinnati were able to put their game in the books.
The Toronto Wolves had to overcome a big game from Cincinnati first baseman Chuck Adams to leave Tice Memorial Stadium II with a victory. And they did, winning 5-3. Adams was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Jerry York was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts.
Toronto needed the clutch hitting of Fred McCormick to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Wolves on top, 4-3. For the game, McCormick had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
McCormick told a Toronto Observer reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
Toronto is now 29-40. Cincinnati is 37-30. | |
