Wolves Shut Out Kings, 5-0 | Toronto picked up a win at Dominion Stadium, toppling the Brooklyn Kings, 5-0. Pitcher Joe Hancock was one of the reasons the Wolves triumphed. Hancock went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 4-0. Brooklyn falls to 15-8.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the seventh inning, but Chick Wirtz didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Brooklyn trailing 2-0, Wirtz retired Pat Petty to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Wirtz, with a wink. | |
