Behind Keeter, Boston Blanks Washington, 4-0 | Alf Keeter of the Boston Minutemen was on fire against the Washington Eagles at Minuteman Stadium today. He shut them out 4-0 on 5 hits, collecting 3 strikeouts and allowing 2 walks.
"The first two pitches I'm looking for an out, a ground ball or a fly ball," Keeter said later. "I'm trying to get quick outs. I've never been a big believer in trying to strike a guy out from the very first pitch. It's too easy to end up behind in the count doing that."
On his stats sheet for the year Keeter shows a 4-1 record, 5 starts, 40 innings, 13 strikeouts and a 2.92 ERA. | |
