Pioneers Raise Rally Flag, Beat New York, 7-5
New York center fielder Bunny Hufford had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 7-5, to St. Louis at Gotham Stadium. Hufford slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. After losing, New York is 14-9.

The outcome might have been different for St. Louis, had it not been for Al Tucker, the six-time All-Star . Tucker stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put St. Louis up, 6-5. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 2 doubles and 1 single.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Tucker told a St. Louis Daily reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
