| Montreal Topples Cleveland, 5-3 | Gordie Perkins was a major factor in the 5-3 Montreal win over Cleveland. The Saints shortstop was 2-4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. For the Foresters, the loss makes them 11-18.
Perkins contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Montreal in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Perkins took a fastball from Ducky Davis and stroked the home run to right-center. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Saints to leap in front, 5-3.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Perkins told the Montreal Today.
