Portland picked up a win at Knights Stadium, bumping off the Los Angeles Knights, 3-2. Pitcher Ike O'Donnell was a major reason the Green Sox emerged victorious. Herb White recorded his 3rd save for Portland. The Knights drop to 14-14 and continue their inconsistent start to the 1949 season.

Portland used the bat of Lew Seals to get the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Green Sox ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Seals told a Portland Today reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
