New York Stars starter Vern Hubbard hurled his team past the Montreal Saints, 5-2. George Scruggs closed the door for New York, picking up his 2nd save of the year. The win hiked the New York record to 21-18.

Ralph Hanson, the former first round draft pick , had a direct impact on the outcome. Hanson contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth inning to put New York up, 3-2.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said New York skipper Ken Tannen.
