The Houston Bulls trumped the Portland Green Sox, 9-1, at Porter Stadium. Houston catcher Dave Doolittle was terrific. He went 4 for 4 with 3 doubles. He drove in 5 runs. Houston is now 49-26, 2½ games up in the Great Western League.

With Houston leading 6-0 in the top of the eighth, Doolittle came up to bat against Portland pitcher Johnny Kretzschmar. Doolittle hit a fastball to right-center for a bases-clearing double. His 13th double of the season put the Bulls on top, 9-0.

"I wish every win came this easy," said Doolittle.
