New York Stars starter Jack Wood was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Toronto Wolves, 4-1. New York is now riding a 3-game win streak.

Mack Sutton dealt the Wolves a blow in the bottom of the first. Batting with the bases loaded and New York leading 1-0, Sutton, who led the CA in extra base hits with 67 in 1947, hit a 1-2 fastball for a 2-run single.

"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said New York skipper Ken Tannen. "I can't complain."
