Dynamos Lose Late, 4-2 | The Washington Eagles had to overcome a big game from Detroit right fielder Bill Morrison to leave Thompson Field with a victory. And they did, winning 4-2. Morrison was 4 for 4 with a triple and 3 singles. Ike Keller, now 7-5, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0. With the win, Washington raised its record to 77-64.
Bob Coon, the 32-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Coon contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the ninth inning to put Washington up, 3-2.
Detroit manager Dick York said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said. | |
