Chiefs Edge Eagles, 1-0 | Chicago Chiefs starter Mel Haynes was in fine form against the Washington Eagles at Whitney Park, leading his team to a win, 1-0. Angel Lopez notched his 10th save in 12 chances. With the win over Washington, the Chiefs improved to 66-78.
Chicago third baseman Walt Pack contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball into center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 108th hit of the season and put the Chiefs ahead, 1-0.
