| Cougars K-O Sailors, 2-0 | The Chicago Cougars got a magnificent effort from pitcher Johnnie Jones, who kept Philadelphia hitters in check en route to a 2-0 Cougars win at Cougars Park. Jones, now 15-8, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 6, and allowing no runs. The triumph puts Chicago at 77-68 for the season.
The Cougars got a big at-bat from catcher Eddie Howard. For the game, Howard went 1-2 with a double. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 31st double of the season gave Chicago a 1-0 lead.
"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Jones.
