Cannons Clip Wolves, 5-4 | Toronto got a terrific game from left fielder Tom Frederick. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Cincinnati, 5-4. Frederick was 4 for 5 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Jim Anderson earned the win to go to 15-8. He allowed 4 runs on 6 hits, with 6 walks and 3 strikeouts in 7 innings of work. With the victory, the Cannons upped their record to 76-72.
Cincinnati took a 5-4 lead on Buzz McIlwain's 12th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which McIlwain hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Toronto pitcher Jimmy Gibbs visibly frustrated.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said McIlwain, "one at-bat at a time." | |
