New York Gothams starter Lefty Allen pitched his team past the Detroit Dynamos, 5-2. Steve Groves sewed up the save, his 2nd. New York goes to 6-3 with the win.

With New York leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Allen hit a run-scoring single off Detroit hurler Carl Potter. It was the 1st hit of the season for Allen and put his team ahead, 3-1.

"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Allen told the New York Daily News.
