Gothams Rally to Eke Out Win
The New York Gothams bested the Philadelphia Keystones, 8-7, at Broad Street Park II. Walt Messer was one of the standouts. He went 2-5 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 4 times. Lou Eaker picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-2. Frank Pershing was tagged with the loss. With the win, the Gothams have a record of 27-20.

New York took a 8-7 lead on George Cleaves's 9th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Cleaves hit in the top of the 13th, left Philadelphia pitcher Frank Pershing visibly frustrated.

"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Cleaves.
