Road Win Lifts New York to 1-0 Lead in WCS
The New York Gothams powered past the hometown Cleveland Foresters, 4-2, in the opener of the World Championship Series at Forester Stadium today. New York starting pitcher Ed Bowman threw 9.0 innings of 8-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Gothams now lead the series 1-0.

George Cleaves, the 12-time All-Star , had a direct impact on the outcome. Cleaves contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh inning to put New York up, 4-2.

"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Bowman said.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Forester Stadium in Cleveland.
