Win Lifts Eagles to 33-20 | The first-place Washington Eagles picked up another win.
The Washington Eagles did just enough to sneak past the Chicago Chiefs, 4-3, at Columbia Stadium. Washington pitcher Dan Everett, in particular, had a standout performance. Washington, at 33-20, is 3 games up in the Federal Association.
In the bottom of the sixth, Washington catcher Ike Perry put his team on top. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit his 3rd home run of the year. Chicago pitcher Mel Haynes served it up. Just like that, the Eagles were ahead, 4-3.
After the game, Washington manager Frank Conner applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said. | |
