| San Francisco Rallies to 7-5 Win | The bat of Art Gates helped the San Francisco Sailors top the Chicago Cougars, 7-5, in 10 innings. Gates was 5 for 6 with 3 doubles and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs for San Francisco. The Sailors win now puts them at 64-72.
Gates had a game-changing double in the top of the tenth. On a 1-0 screwball from Bill Scott, he banged a 2-run double to center, giving the Sailors a 7-5 lead. It was the 21st double of the year for Gates.
